About the universe
Four central pieces of geography that underpin virtually all story arcs.
Grand Line
The belt of sea that cuts across the planet from end to end and concentrates the world's most dangerous and valuable islands. The region's magnetism renders ordinary compasses useless, so ships navigate using a Log Pose, which records the magnetic field of the next island.
Red Line
A continent that spans the globe from one pole to the other, crossing the Grand Line perpendicularly. Atop it lies Mary Geoise, the sacred city where the Celestial Dragons live and where the World Government convenes.
Sky Islands
Territories like Skypiea and Weatheria, built upon solid clouds known as Island Vearth. Inhabited by winged peoples and featuring their own technologies, like the Dial, which stores natural phenomena for later use.
The Moon
A satellite visited by the god of lightning, Enel, after his defeat in Skypiea. There, ruins of an ancient civilization house thousand-year-old robots and clues to a technology lost far longer than any human can remember.

🍈 Akuma no Mi — Devil Fruits
Paramecia · Zoan · LogiaCursed fruits that grant superhuman powers to whoever eats them — at the cost of never being able to swim again. Only one of each exists in the world at a time: if the user dies, the power reincarnates in another fruit somewhere on the planet.
Grants a specific, distinct power to the user's body — elasticity, explosions, sand manipulation, and so on.
Allows full or partial transformation into an animal. Rare Mythical Zoans grant the form of legendary creatures, like dragons and phoenixes.
Transforms the user's body into a element of nature — fire, ice, light — making them practically immune to ordinary physical attacks.

🪨 Poneglyphs — the forbidden history
Void CenturyIndestructible stone blocks, harder than any known material, carved by an ancient people. Only those who learn the lost script — like the archaeologist Nico Robin — can read them, and the World Government itself forbids studying the subject.

Five short stories ("one-shots") published between 1992 and 1996, now collected in the book Wanted! Eiichiro Oda Before One Piece, released in the US by Viz Media in November 2024.

Unlike other major names in Shōnen Jump, Oda never launched a second long-running series: his career consists essentially of the five one-shots collected in Wanted! followed by nearly thirty uninterrupted years of One Piece.
The One Piece anime
Produced by Toei Animation since 1999, the anime is one of the longest-running adaptations in Japanese television history — and after more than two nearly uninterrupted decades, it entered a new production rhythm in 2026.

During the hiatus before the second part of Egghead, Toei aired "One Piece Log: Fish-Man Island Saga", a remastered and re-edited 21-episode version of the original arc.
Recent seasons
Wano Country
197 episodes, aired between July 2019 and December 2023 — the longest season in the series to date.
Egghead
67 episodes, aired between January 2024 and December 2025, including a hiatus between the two parts of the arc.
Elbaf
Premiered in April 2026 and is currently ongoing, operating under the new production format.
Starting in 2026, Toei Animation and producer Ryuta Koike shifted the anime's pacing: a three-month hiatus (January–March) was followed by the adoption of two annual blocks totaling up to 26 episodes, replacing the continuous weekly broadcast maintained since 1999. The studio's stated goal is to bring the anime's pacing and feel even closer to the manga. A remake of the series, announced in 2023 and produced by WIT Studio, also remains in development.
Monsters — the one-shot got an anime adaptation
Announced during One Piece Day 2023 and released on January 22, 2024 by studio E&H Production, "Monsters: 103 Mercies Dragon Damnation" adapts Oda's pre-One Piece one-shot featured in the Books/Universes tab — including the samurai Ryuma, who reappears in Thriller Bark.
